Uploading a File to Your Website
You may want to include a copy of your "traditional" resume on your website, in standard formats that recruiters and company representatives can print out or save in order to have it on file for future reference, or to advance you in the recruiting process. Standard formats include text (used to scan the resume into automated resume storage systems), Microsoft Word, or PDF.
To upload a file to your website, and create a link to it in your page, log in to your account and select the page (or create a new Downloads page) that you want to put your download file(s) on. In the content area of the page, type in the text that will be the link to the file e.g. "Text Version", "Microsoft Word Version", "PDF Version". Highlight the text with your mouse, and click the "Insert Hyperlink" button on the Editor Toolbar. |
 |
The File Manager popup window will open.
Click on the "Browse" button beside the Upload File box, and locate the file on your computer. When you have found the file, select it and click the "Open" button. The location of your file will then be shown in the Upload File box (see sample at left).
Click on the "Go" button to upload the file to your website. You will see that the file upload is in progress, and then you will receive a message that the file was uploaded successfully. |

1. Select the file that you just uploaded. Your uploaded file will now be shown in the list of files on your website. Locate the file in the list and click on it.
2. Your file will now be shown in the Link Location box. Do not change this.
3. Click on the dropdown box beside Target Window. Click on "New Window" This step is optional. Selecting "New Window" will cause your resume file to open in a new browser window, keeping your resume website open so the the visitor can browse it further. It is a good idea to open the link(s) to your resume document(s) in a new window, because the resume document normally will not include any navigation to return to your website. If you do not select "New Window" the default will be applied: the file will replace the resume in the visitor's browser window (they can click the Back button on the browser to return to your site).
4. Click the "Insert Link" button. The link to your file will then be added to the text that you had selected in your web page. |
